Hello, neighbors. I'm Steven here at etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this Stomberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch Receiver. Now folks, this is a universal hitch. It's designed to work and use on travel trailers and fifth wheels. It can be either bolted or welded on by a professional onto your trailer.
You can possibly weld it on yourself. Just note that it is only rated at a class two of 350 pounds if it is welded and installed by a professional welder only. Otherwise, it's only rated at a class one 200 pounds. Now the receiver opening is a standard two inch by two inch tube here. You get your safety chain attachments, all the hardware here needed and bracketry if you need 'em to mount to your specific needs.
Everything's a heavy duty steel that's been black powder coated. It's gonna resist rust, corrosion, and it's got a nice kind of reflective, glossy finish to it, which is pretty nice. It does install on various trailer frames. It'll work on either C channel or an I-beam frame. So if you're using C channel, it's gonna work on the horizontal wall.
Now, as I mentioned, you got from 49 1/2 inches all the way out to 76 1/2. So these side pieces here can extend out (metal grinds) all the way if you need 'em. And they got bolt holes here to mount it to your frame. You can either use it like this or if you need to invert it, you can invert it like that. So keep in mind, you got a lot of versatility with this hitch.
(metal clanks) And on the front you can kind of see over here you got a hole, and right here. What you'll do is once you get this set to the length that you need it, mark it, either do a center punch or a paint mark or something and then pull these back out, drill a hole through that, and on the backside of this guy, there's a welded nut and then you can put a bolt all the way through there for extra, you know, hold it from sliding and whatnot. Folks, this is not, I repeat, not designed to be used for towing. So please do not try to tow anything with this. This is just to add a connection point, if you will, to carry like a bike carrier to carry some bikes, maybe a cargo carrier, something like that. Again, the weight rating is a class one, 200 pounds or a class 2, 350 pounds only if it's been installed and welded on by a professional. Now I want to kind of show you some dimensions here real quick. This image will also be available on the product page. You can scroll down and find that in the ask the expert section of the page and you could also pause the video if you need to and write down any kind of dimensions you need. Keep in mind it is adjustable, so you got lots of variations that you could use if need be. Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our look at this Stromberg Carlson Adjustable Accessory Hitch. Again, 49 1/2 to 76 1/2 inch frames. I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching. I hope this information's been helpful. Stay safe out there and have fun on your travels.
I Love the Stromberg Carlson RV and Camper Hitch! As a matter of fact, I bought (2) of them. I mounted them to the frame on my 2020 Shasta Phoenix 25RE 5th wheel and it was Eazy Peazy! I connected the (2) hitches together using an 18" hitch extender that runs thru the stock square bumper. I bolted them to the frame of the 5th wheel, not the provided tabs from the RV manufacturer. The frame is stronger than provided tabs, in my opinion. Works Great and is Solid!

Looks great, John! Where are you taking that dirt bike to?
The pre drilled holes on my travel trailer plates don’t line up with the trailer hitch so I’m trying to find someone that can drill new holes. It requires someone with the a proper drill and drill bits

The hitch is a universal-fit item, it's not RV-specific. Welding the hitch in place is also an option, if you'd care to go that route....
Has worked out great. I mounted it to the frame of my camper so I could put a basket in it and haul my generator.
I have a Newmar Cypress 2006 and it has the connections for a hitch, but of course they no longer make it. I had to have someone make an adapter plate for my hitch to line up the holes and it worked perfectly. THANK YOU so much for sending this unit quickly. Although the packages was damaged all the parts where there and it has fit my needs. Please to try out with bicycle rack next month on a long trip.

It is doing exactly what was intended. I had the unit welded so I didnt have to worry about it coming loose. Thank you.
The workmanship on this is impressive. It was perfect for our RV, now we can haul our bikes with confidence.

Glad we had the right fit so you can transport your toys a little easier Paul. What trip are you looking most forward to this camping season in your RV?
Easy bolt on to 5th wheel. Did have it welded because it is now the low point and when my rear drags it takes the pressure off my trailer. It has been a great asset to put our bike rack on

Bolt on bumper is still performing well after a year and multiple trips. I have a reared on my 5th wheel and it has had to drag several times with no damage holding up well
Excellent Accessory Hitch! I mounted it on the rear of my Coachman travel trailer to use for my Carry-All. It is as strong as my receiver hitch on my truck! If you are searching for an adjustable hitch, you can’t go wrong with this one from etrailer.com!
I really in joy my receiver hitch it can do so much more than what it is rated for I have pushed mine to it limits by towing ( at my on risk of course) but it is rugged and extremely well-built I’m well pleased with my purchase

It is tough it can haul way more than what it is rated for i have put mine to the text more than once I am really pleased with it
I like that it’s universal for different width frames and relatively easy to install if you know what you’re doing. Down side was that two bolts were the wrong thread size. Bolts were M16 and the weld nuts on the frame were 5/8.
Although I am satisfied with the end result, installation was a bit involved. I elected to mount this hitch on the rear of our camper trailer in order to support a bike rack. The 17mm holes that were needed in both the frame and hitch were challenging to drill. I strongly recommended using titanium bits. Start small and work your way up. Most of my time was spent adjusting and measuring to ensure a proper fit. Once completed, the hitch is a solid base. No worries with reliability.
One of the welded nuts on the hitch was not welded straight. So the through was hard to start. Had to cut the weld off one side of the nut and reweld it. Other than that I got it mounted on my trailer
What I was looking for. Good price and free shipping.
The hitch looks and feels very solid. The installation was pretty straight forward but drilling the bolt holes for the adjusting part was a bear, getting those to line up took a bit.
It was perfect just what I needed.
I don't have the capability to welding so I planned to drill and mount this. It worked great, but would have been easier if I had the recommended 17mm drill bit. I did use a 43/64" and it worked great. Had to spend part of my day going out on town to get the larger drill bit.
Quick delivery and a nice hitch
Product fit well and performs great.
So far it is a great hitch. The only thing I had an issue with was the welded on nut on the back side. The bolt wouldn't start correctly. I would rather just have a hole and put on my own nut. Other then that, it was easy to install.
Assembly to back of RV trailer was straight forward. Have to try it out yet.
Easy to install! We'll built and shipping was super fast!

Still working strong. Was so easy to install and adjust to fit.
The hitch is way better than expected from reviews I’ve read. Excellent customer service and would buy same product again from e-trailer.
Great product works as intended!!!!!
Worked very well installed on my travel trailer for use as a bike rack for two eBikes. Total weight with carrier is 175lb. Therefore I’ll add a few beads of weld to enhance the strength where bolted to frame. Hardware and hitch assembly were heavy duty. Took nearly four hours since it’s heavy (65lb) and bulky to handle. Would recommend.
Bought this particular one for my rv because I didn't have any room to mount anything other brand due to power stabilizing jacks and the way they mounted the rear bumper. It works as intended

It does look solid, Ken! What are you going to be mounting on it?
